A pharmaceutical company will be required to pay $3.7 million to the federal government to help kick-start the erectile-dysfunction treatment Viagra, a federal court has ruled.
In a case that could have a devastating impact on the U. S. health care system, Viagra maker Eli Lilly has agreed to pay $1.5 million to resolve allegations it illegally marketed and sold counterfeit versions of Viagra to the federal government.
The federal judge in San Diego ruled against Lilly in September and ordered the company to pay $1.2 million to resolve the claims.
